Classes across South East Ireland are run by Elaine and George Dunne, who both not only practically grew up in water, but now spend most of their waking lives in it too! Competitive swimming, waterpolo, open sea swimming – they’ve done it all. And now their four children are happily splashing in their watery footsteps too.
Elaine was first introduced to Water Babies while pregnant by friend and waterpolo team mate Therese, who was just about to set up Water Babies in Dublin. 'From the minute I watched the Water Babies dvd I was hooked,' she says, 'and knew straight away that this was what I wanted to do.' Qualifying as a teacher as soon as she could after giving birth, she taught for 18 months in Dublin before setting up her own classes in the South East.
They both agree that the best thing about Water Babies is our favourite word - progression! 'Watching tiny babies just starting out on their swimming journey, to when they're toddlers and able to do amazing things, is just fantastic,' Elaine beams. 'And as a swimmer,' George adds, 'the structure that Water Babies brings is just great.'
