Our history

Welcome to the enchanting world of Water Babies!

In 2009, sisters Carol and Therese McNally introduced a very special kind of baby swimming to Ireland, inspired by a Water Babies leaflet that caught Carol's eye while visiting family in the UK two years earlier.

For us, there’s no greater thrill than seeing a baby move freely, gracefully and confidently through water in a way they physically can’t manage on dry land. And learning to swim at a very young age is hugely beneficial. So we built on those benefits, slowly growing our business in Ireland and watching as other people caught the excitement of Water Babies.

Passion and enthusiasm are clearly infectious – and are two things we’re never short of at Water Babies!  In fact Jamie and Lisa Cobbe loved their weekly lessons so much that they brought Water Babies to the North West, closely followed by Elaine and George Dunne who brought classes to the South East, and Dave and Denise Ganly who are sharing the Water Babies magic in the South West. So now even more families can become a part of something very special!

We've now grown into Ireland's biggest and best baby- and toddler-swimming company, teaching around 2,500 children in around 40 pools every week through a network of family businesses, and we've travelled the world to research swimming and child development, and to source the very best equipment and products.

Come and join the enchanting world of Water Babies — and let’s teach your baby to swim!
